Speech-Language Pathologist
The purpose of this position is to assess, plan, organize, develop and implement speech-language therapy services for individual students/clients and outside contract services in accordance with current applicable federal, state and facility standards, guidelines and regulations.
This position assumes the authority, responsibility and accountability for assessing, developing, and implementing speech-language therapy programs. This position is responsible for inservicing others on a student’s particular needs. Good communication is essential with the student’s team, rehab administrative assistant and other coworkers. The speech-language pathologist schedules his/her time with the other therapists, home life services staff and teachers. The incumbent should cooperate professionally, at all levels. The SLP is expected to evaluate and treat the student/client based on his/her own acquired expertise and adheres to the guidelines of their professional standards. Ongoing assessment of student needs to determine direct therapy frequency, training needs for student’s whole program, consultation and when to discharge from services is a must.
A Master’s Degree from an ASHA accredited program is necessary. Current state licensure as a Speech-language pathologist and ASHA certificate of clinical competence or CFY, or eligibility or evidence of application for licensure, is necessary.
