ACC Students, Staff Enjoy Twisted Fairy Tale

Gauchos, goblins, gatos, and even Gumby celebrated Halloween at the Anne Carlsen Center.

This year the annual Halloween Party was smaller in scale than it had been in past years due to the restrictions imposed by the threat of the H1N1 virus. But while only students and the on-duty staff could participate in the party, spirits were high.

“Being that the community could not be involved, the staff and kids carried the spirit of the event,” said ACC Activities Director Denise Jensen. “Staff dressed up and danced with students and everyone really kept the spirit up.”

Restrictions due to the presence of the influenza virus throughout the community and state have been in place since late September.

“I have spoken with quite a few people in the public and they are bummed they can’t be part of what has become a tradition here at the Center,” said Jensen. “But they also are very understanding as to why they can’t be at the campus right now.”

The night’s theme “Twisted Fairy Tales” was created by a 10-person committee that begins planning the event in late August. Scenery and props for the event are constructed during a two-week period prior to the event, while all decorations are taken down that evening.
