Tee off set for 23rd annual ACCC benefit golf tourney
Former Viking to be celebrity host
Registration is now being accepted for Anne Carlsen Center for Children’s 23rd Annual Benefit Golf Tournament Mixed Scramble Saturday, June 11 at the Jamestown Country Club. Tee off is at 9 a.m.
Headlining this year’s event is former Minnesota Viking defensive standout Joey Browner.
“I am honored to be part of the Anne Carlsen Center for Children tournament,” he said. “Please join me in showing your support by participating as a golfer or through sponsorship. Even if you don’t golf, please contribute, because your support will change the lives of families and their children who have special needs.”
The registration deadline is Friday, June 3. The registration fee for the Scramble is $85 per person and is limited to 120 golfers. This year’s tournament has three prize divisions: scratch, handicap and mixed, which is restricted to teams of two men and two women.
For more information on the tournament or to register, contact Shelley Nannenga at 1-800-568-5175 or 701-252-3850 ext. 109.
Browner was the first defensive back ever taken by the Vikings in the first round when he was drafted in 1983. Known as one of the most intimidating players in the NFL, he surpassed the 100-tackle mark for seven consecutive years and made over 1,000 tackles during his career.
All proceeds from the tournament help fund programs and services for children with special needs at Anne Carlsen Center for Children, the only facility in North Dakota offering residential, therapeutic and education services on one campus to children and young adults with physical, mental and health impairments. Specialists from various disciplines use creative combinations of special education and training, therapy and supportive medical care to help the children enjoy the best possible quality of life. Resident and day services are provided to more than 100 children, birth to young adult.
