Moeller installed as ACCC chaplain
Program added to address spiritual needs
Jamestown, N.D. – The Rev. JoAnne Moeller was installed Thursday, June 16 as Chaplain at Anne Carlsen Center for Children.
Bishop Rick Foss of the Eastern North Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) presided at the installation.
Moeller has served in parish ministry for 20 years, most recently at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamestown.
The chaplain program at ACCC was developed recently, said Chief Operating Officer Marcia Gums, to aid in the students’ spiritual growth and development and provide pastoral support to their families and the Center’s employees.
“I look forward to getting to know the children and their families and reminding them of who they are as children of God,” said Moeller.
She will provide opportunities for spiritual and pastoral care through ecumenical chapel services, visitations, Bible readings, music and the arts.
Moeller, who served as Center namesake Dr. Anne Carlsen’s pastor while at Immanuel Lutheran Church, said, “I feel honored and privileged to be a part of what she helped develop here.”
The Anne Carlsen Center for Children is the only facility in North Dakota offering residential, therapeutic and education services to children and young adults with physical, mental and health impairments on one campus. Specialists from various disciplines use creative combinations of special education and training, therapy and supportive medical care to help the children enjoy the best possible quality of life.
