A new era

ACC moves forward with outreach expansion, new logo

The Anne Carlsen Center publicly unveiled its outreach expansions, as well as its new logo, on July 8 as the Center took its first steps into a new era.

The new expansions include programs such as in-home and community supports, as well as a plan for outreach offices in the larger communities throughout the state. The Center’s new logo incorporates an updated butterfly logo as well as Dr. Anne Carlsen’s signature.

“With a strong foundation of providing quality care and support to individuals with disabilities, we are expanding our mission to touch even more lives in a very powerful way,” said ACC CEO Dan Howell. “We also have a powerful, new logo to help share our message of hope and empowerment.”

Media from around the state, families, staff, students and friends of the Center gathered at a ceremony in the playground courtyard.

Along with the changes is the reinforced mission for Jamestown’s campus, first opened in 1941.

“The Anne Carlsen Center has been a part of the Jamestown community for many years and has become a true asset to this town,” said ACC board member Harvey Huber. “The Jamestown campus is home for many children and young adults and that will never change. For some individuals, living at home isn’t an option, and Jamestown will always be available to those who need resident care. This beautiful campus will continue to be a source of pride for Jamestown.”

“The Anne Carlsen Center is providing choices for families,” Huber added. “Now families throughout the state will have another option – that may be closer to their hometown – to receive the excellent care and services the Center has to offer.”

The new logo brings Dr. Anne Carlsen to the forefront of the Center’s mission, displaying the exquisite penmanship of someone born without fully developed arms or hands. Writing became one of many achievements in Dr. Anne’s life, as she did many things, including driving a car, without the use of fully developed legs and feet.

“Dr. Anne’s legacy is an amazing story and we’re happy we are able to share it with you,” said Howell. “We’re excited to begin partnering with communities throughout the state and are eager to see what the future holds for us.”

The Center’s new tagline, ‘Nurturing abilities. Changing lives.’ embraces the Anne Carlsen Center’s values of compassion, gratitude, holistic care, acceptance, life-long learning, service above self and teamwork.
