ACC Thanks Howell for Leadership, Years of Service

The Anne Carlsen Center announced today that Dan Howell, Chief Executive Officer for the past ten years, has submitted his resignation effective August 28, 2009.

“It has been a distinct honor and privilege to be a part of the Anne Carlsen Center’s mission of changing lives and nurturing abilities,” says Howell. “I leave the Center with many special memories. I have constantly been amazed by the exceptional staff here at the Center and the remarkable individuals we serve.”

Howell has accepted the position of CEO of the Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC) in Beatrice, Nebraska. BSDC is a residential treatment facility providing psychological, medical and developmental services to individuals with disabilities. Howell will lead BSDC in their continued efforts to achieve the most appropriate and independent setting possible for approximately 200 individuals with disabilities.

“Dan Howell’s contributions during his ten years at the Anne Carlsen Center have been invaluable,” says ACC Board Chair Thomas Rohleder. “We are grateful for the expertise and passion he has invested in our mission, and we congratulate him on what promises to be an exciting journey in his new role.”

Howell’s many accomplishments during his tenure at ACC include the smooth transition of the Anne Carlsen Center to independent status in 2003 and, most recently, helping shape and implement ACC’s community-based services.

Rohleder says the search process for Howell’s successor will begin immediately.

“The Board has committed to a timely and comprehensive search to identify the leader with the skills and experience to continue to fulfill our mission and strategic vision,” says Rohleder. “We remain fully committed to providing the highest quality services and supports to individuals and families affected by developmental disabilities. The Anne Carlsen Center will continue to thrive, as we carry out our life-changing programs and legacy of hope.”
