Student Spotlight

There are many stories of courage and triumph happening each day at the Anne Carlsen Center. Below, we provide a glimpse of the many inspiring accomplishments our students are making — from the classroom to the community.

Student Shining At ACC

In this two-part series, meet Tabby, a student at the Anne Carlsen Center. Tabby was born blind and was later diagnosed with autism. Each day she is learning skills to help her communicate with others, and with every skill learned is becoming more independent. Her mother and ACC staff members share her story, and the triumphs she’s lived since becoming a student at the Center.

A Reason to Dream

The following four-part series was originally published in The Center’s quarterly magazine: The A mbassador. These stories feature Chris LaCroix, an Anne Carlsen Center student with autism.

This remarkable teenager has overcome painful obstacles to build a productive, joy-filled life. Each day, he demonstrates the value of persistence and passion in the face of the most rapidly growing developmental disability in the country.

It takes an amazing person to care and nurture some of the world’s most special children. Click here to read about some of the Center’s most determined and amazing employees.
