Adapt Your Child's Work and Play Environment

Brief Description:
Children with special needs learn through experience. They deserve to work and play and join in activities with their peers. There are many simple and inexpensive ways to make this happen, at home, and in the classroom.

Objective:
• The audience will gather ideas and become familiar with things that they can make and implement once they return home.
• Audience will have a chance to choose a "make and take" projects in the longer session show just how easy it is!

Audience:
Speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, infant development specialists, parents, and special education teachers.

2 hour
3 hour

Presenters:
Connie Lillejord, OTR/L has worked at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children for the past 13 years and the last eight years as the Director of Rehab services. She has worked and consulted for the South Central Infant Development program. Prior to becoming a director, she also, consulted with area nursing homes and numerous special education programs in the region.
Sharon Olson is the early childhood special education teacher at ACCC with an array of experience incorporating both humor and technology into her classroom. She has presented at many conferences on various aspects of incorporating simple techniques into a classroom for children with special needs.

Cost:
2 hour: $420
3 hour: $550
Per diem travel fee of $1 per mile, per presenter to and from Jamestown.
