Admission Process

The Anne Carlsen Center for Children has a social worker who will work closely with families and agencies interested in placing a child at the Center either residentially or as a day student. The process differs with each individual.

As a privately-owned organization, ACCC is not part of the public school system. A child's placement is often the result of individual education program plans. Unless a family will privately pay for services, approval is required from a school district or a referall is needed from another state agency, depending on the payment source.

The first step is to contact the Center. We will work with you and help you complete the steps needed for admission. The Center will need all relevant information, including a complete medical history, the name of your case manager and, if the child is school-aged, the most current individual education plan (IEP).

After all of that information has been received, the Center's admissions committee will review it and make an admission decision based on the needs of the child and how we can best serve him or her medically, residentially and educationally.
