Chaplain Program

TLC+ Brochure

At the Anne Carlsen Center, we believe every person deserves to experience a life of dignity with as much independence as possible. Each day we strive to provide unique opportunities for the remarkable Individuals we serve and give them the opportunity to dream.

Through the Chaplaincy Program, Pastor JoAnne Moeller provides opportunities for spiritual nourishment for students enrolled at the Center, their families and ACC staff. Moeller is also an important member of the Center’s Tender Loving Care Plus (TLC+) Consult Team. Through this palliative care program, children and young adults with life-limiting conditions are supported through a variety of life-enriching experiences, while addressing the needs and concerns of family members and caregivers.

Pastor JoAnne’s weekly Chapel service, with students as greeters and acolytes (candle lighters using battery-operated candles) is one of the many highly-anticipated events the ACC Chaplaincy Care program provides throughout the year.

Chaplaincy Care Components:

Confirmation — Students have the option of being confirmed at the Anne Carlsen Center by Pastor JoAnne (after completing four- to six-week class), or through St. James Basilica in Jamestown. Contact Pastor JoAnne if you are interested in either.

Eucharist — Students have opportunities to participate once a month in a Protestant service (on the first Sunday of each month at 4 p.m.) of Holy Communion led by Pastor JoAnne or a Roman Catholic Mass (on the last Friday of the month at 4 p.m.) led by a priest from St. James Basilica.

KidSabbath — These fun and engaging sessions, on the first Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m., engage students in faith stories of the season and give them the opportunity to take part in fun craft projects.

Vacation Bible School — Taking place during summer, this program is an informal gathering with stories, songs and crafts.
